The Drawing Dancer

In 2025, Oxana Chi moved to Martinique in the Caribbean and began painting intensively. Initially, her motifs emerged as impressions and daydreams inspired by the landscapes of Martinique, as well as by her movement-based practice as a dancer. She primarily worked with watercolor on paper, gradually expanding her materials to include gouache, acrylic paint, pencil, colored pencils, and various felt-tip pens.

Her current work extends into socio-political themes and explores the relationship between humans and nature: How and when do they encounter one another? Where, and in what ways, do the boundaries, structures, and energies between human beings and the plant world begin to blur? And how can politics and social justice help shape a healthy climate for all living and moving energies on Earth?

Oxana Chi was invited to present a solo drawing exhibition at the Alliance Française in Fortaleza, Brazil. Her images were also presented on a large screen at the PSI Conference #30 at the Federal University of Ceará in Fortaleza, Brazil, and at Tropiques Atrium – Scène Nationale in Fort-de-France, Martinique.
